The more I’ve gotten into the mermaid biz, the more modeling I have done over the last two years. This has made me confident in some areas, and insecure in others. Something I noticed while doing a group shot was how white all the model’s teeth were! Their smiles really stood out, even the pictures that were taken underwater! So, I decided something needed to be done. Since my husband and I are on the road I couldn’t go to a regular dentist for whitening options so I started looking for an alternative online. That is when I found Smile Brilliant!
This place sends you everything you need to professionally whiten your teeth at home, for a fraction of the cost. Check out how easy this is!
Smile Brilliant Supplies
Smile Brilliant comes in two shipments. The first includes:
- Base and catalyst (putty) for personal teeth impressions
- Impression trays
- Whitening Gel
- Desensitizing Gel
- Return package for impressions
These are all the supplies you need to whiten your teeth as well as the supplies for the teeth impressions. The second shipment is your actual customized whitening trays.
So! This is what you do.
You take the blue and white putty and mix them together until the white and blue streaks are gone. You put them into the trays and insert into your mouth to cover all your teeth. They even give you a back-up tray in case you mess up (which I used).
You then send those impressions in the return envelope (they provide) and two weeks later, BAM! You have your custom fitted whitening trays!
It takes a few weeks for the whitening trays to return, but Smile Brillant has great communication in what stage of the process your trays are at like when your trays arrived, and when they are shipping the new ones your way. It made me so excited knowing what day they were arriving I did my first whitening right when they arrived.
What to do when the whitening trays arrive
I had to read the instructions a few times before starting anything. Not because they were confusing, but because I really didn’t want to mess this up. After the first round, it’s not had to follow or remember.
Starting out, brush your teeth with JUST WATER and floss. This is so no toothpaste residue or food is left behind. Then, dry off your teeth (upper or lower) as much as you can. Make a thin ribbon line with your whitening gel to the inside front of your tray, and fit onto your teeth. The gel syringes have a twist cap that when turned around can be used to store the gel.
After you insert the tray into your mouth, you might get a little taste of the gel. It isn’t pleasant but it’s manageable.
This step is the actual bleaching of your teeth and you might feel some sensitivity here. That gets better with time. I would recommend starting out with 45 min and then if you want to increase from there, go ahead.
After the bleaching process, take trays out and wash them in cool water. Brush your teeth with toothpaste this time, and prepare for the next round with desensitizing gel.
The desensitizing gel is really important and helps strengthen your teeth from the bleach. The process is exactly the same, but you only leave on for 15-20 minutes, then spit out the remaining gel, no need to brush. It actually helps the gel by keeping a thin layer on your teeth.
I will do this at night because you can’t eat anything for a while after so just going to bed lets them.

I notice a huge difference the next morning with the color of my teeth, then the brightness dies down a bit throughout the day. Overall I really like how easy and affordable this is.
I did notice after a few times that my teeth are more sensitive for a few days after. I spoke with a representative and they said it was normal and I can use the desensitizing gel on its own to help strengthen the enamel.
