Where are you from? What do you enjoy filling your day with?
Where did you learn your love for the water?
My love for water comes from my father. He is a boat builder and always had me out in the ocean running boats and snorkeling from a very young age.
What’s your favorite part about being a Mermaid?
My favorite part about it is the feeling of swimming in a tail. It feels a lot more natural than swimming with two fins and allows me to seamlessly become part of the ocean world in body and mind.
How long have you been using a Mermaid Tail?
I have had a mermaid tail for three years now. My first tail was an eco fabric from Mertailor, I’ve since upgraded to silicone tails from House of Mer! I do not have a favorite brand, there are quite a few creators that I enjoy and they all have a unique spin on their designs. Finfolk Productions, Mertailor, and AJ’s Merbella stand out the most to me!
What do you think people can learn from Mermaids?
Well, this would depend on what that particular mermaid does and believes in. If someone is a mermaid merely for show, I don’t think a lot can be learned. But for those of us who are rooted in conservation and the love for water and it’s creatures there is a lot to learn. Humans connecting to the ocean and using their powers to protect it is a strong thing.
What is your favorite Mermaid or ocean quote?
You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.
What camps or Mermaid gatherings have you been to or wish to go to?
I have been a part of The Florida Mermaid Pod for two years. We have gathered for many events, festivals swim and creative days. I enjoy the community of our group and being with like minded ladies.
What ocean conservation efforts do you support?
I support all efforts but have personally been involved with raising awareness, beach cleanups, sustainable living and coral reef re-growth programs in Tahiti.
What are your favorite Mermaid theme items or clothing?
So I really don’t wear a lot of mermaid-themed clothing and I don’t have mermaids all over my house haha! I know this might be surprising but I’m a simple gal when it comes to that stuff. My favorite mermaid items are my various silicone mermaid tops to go with my tails.
Any tips and tricks for fellow Mermaids?
Yes! My biggest tip is in swimming. To look like a natural fluid mermaid while swimming, don’t bend your hips! If you watch any sea creature really, you’ll never see a full bend in any area of their body. With mermaids, it’s all in the hips.
