Mermaid baby shower invitations
First things first, let’s talk invitations. This is the first thing your guests will see regarding the party so make it count! You may like the old fashion snail mail method and can order invitations from Amazon but you will have to hand write each and every name as well as the details. If it’s a smaller party it won’t take much time. You busy bees might not have time so head on over to Etsy and have a designer create them for you! You can order them printed, or have them send you an e-file to print yourself. Or let’s be honest, E-vite is crazy easy.
Mermaid baby shower decorations
This point of the party will take the most time but doesn’t have break the bank. There are DIY ideas out there or you can call it a day and buy a mermaid decor package. They really aren’t that expensive.
Mermaid baby shower food ideas
Most baby showers I have been to had more “snack foods” and not a full meal. This depends on the time of day you are hosting it. Regardless, this theme gives you some creative opportunity for mermaid themed food if you would like! It’s easier than you think. You might need to put labels on them so people understand but check out how easy this can be! For example:
The veggie tray can turn into an octopus. Easy!
Chicken salad sandwiches, turn into crabs with some toothpicks and googly eyes.
Make your fruit salad into a shark mouth! Shark attack!
Drinks can be as easy as some blue food coloring and calling it ocean water.
But seriously… buy could just buy some goldfish, Swedish fish, and sour gummy straws for seaweed and it will be a hit. There are so many things you can do to make your guests feel “under the sea.”
Mermaid Cake
If your focus is on the cake, that’s a great centerpiece for the party with different styles to choose from.
However, don’t get overwhelmed and feel pressure to make a fancy cake. Sometimes all you need is a sparkly mermaid cake topper and you are good to go.
Mermaid baby shower games
The games portion of the shower can really make or break the party. Make sure it’s age appropriate for those attendint, and if you want, the games could even be mermaid related. Here are a few ideas I have enjoyed from paste baby showers:
Baby Dec-a-Cake
Before the shower, bake a batch of cupcakes, dropping in a single miniature plastic baby in one random cup. At the shower, bring out the platter of undecorated cupcakes-without letting on that one is secretly ‘pregnant’-and give all guests a supply of frosting, candies and baby decorations. After everyone has decorated their own unique cupcake, the mom-to-be chooses her favorite and the winner gets a prize. Then, just as guests are about to devour the baked goodies whole, let everyone know that whoever finds the baby is next in line to have her own!
Bobbing for Nipples
This suggestive game is the hands-down favorite among males at coed baby showers. Set up a row of large buckets of water and drop some baby bottle nipples into each. Each guest must get down on his or her knees-hands behind backs-and bob for as many nipples as they can grab in two minutes. When the buzzer goes off, the person with the most nipples wins.
Baby Price is Right
Bob Barker isn’t the only one who can set the stage for big wins! Buy 10 to 12 baby items you think the parents-to-be will need. Use blank note cards to write the price of each item on one side and the item itself on the other. Gather guests together and play it just like the TV show: each guest must guess the price of the items on the cards, and the person with the highest total-without going over-wins. Best of all, the parents-to-be get to keep the handy baby items used for the game.
Let me know if you have any ideas I can add to the post!

Mermaid Baby Shower Party Favors
Party favors have become more common over recent years. They are a fun way to thank your guests for coming, even if it’s small. If you have the budget, here are a few good ideas that will leave your guests talking about the party for months.
Mermaid Soap
Mermaid soap is easy and doesn’t cost much. Leaving the party with a good smelling handsoap is a win. If you are really crafty, you can make your own!
Mermaid Bathbomb
This is more of a one and done item but super fun regardless. Give them a relaxing night in the bath and help them feel like a mermaid.
Mermaid Candy
These are less expensive and easy to make. You can use blue jelly beans, MnMs or even nerds for the water and add some gold or Swedish fish to make a fish tank!
Mermaid Jewelry
Mermaid Jewelry is always a win and doesn’t have to be very expensive surprisingly enough! Check out these cute button scale mermaid earrings. Buy a pack and separate for each guest. It would be so fun to see your guests wearing them weeks after the party.
Mermaid Hair ties
These are super cute and functional. We all need hair ties!
